I think Jason Day finally breaks through and wins his first major - Half unit at +1368 Pinny

He always seems to play well in the majors

DNP = Did not play

After losing the British Open in a PO he came straight over to Canada and won the Canadian Open holding off Bubba Watson by making a dramatic putt on the 72 hole "this time he didn't leave it short".

We are looking at Whistling Straights this year a Links style course on the side or Lake Michigan it hosted the 2004 PGA - won by Vijay and lot of the top golfers of the day were in the Top 10 & it was an international melting pot of players. I expect a similar result this year although the Americans have dominated the Majors it is time for Non-Yank to win and the Link style course sets up well for Day, who played well at both Chambers Bay and St Andrews.

Will be back later with top 10 and 20 plays, Taking a look at Oosthizen as well.

Who do you like this week?

I like the pic as well. Like the way this course plays as well. Should be an interesting Tourney to watch.

I mi will make a play on DJ in the early rounds as this course will suit some longs, but he's totally fell apart on the weekends, so idk how confident I am on his overall winning, but he may be your leader headed into the weekend, or up towards the top of the leaderboard.

WS is not truly a links course. Mainly clay, not sand based, and greens are softer than a true links course. Designers do not describe it as a links course.

Well he did say "links style" for a reason. And it does have some characteristics of one and play that way in some cases, i.e. "Links style"

Its Time.

I've got a Fiddy budgeted to invest in Rickie, enthusiastically if I can get him at +2100 or better, right now on just a precursory check I see +1950 at 5D and i know I shouldn't "split hairs" but I prefer to get the number(s) I want and that Brits can get quite easily....

Oh wait DSI does have +2265, maybe investigate prior to starting to type lol

$15 Flyer having done no 'capping on this yet at all on....
Zach Johnson at +5814
10 tossed at Danny Willett +9502

...enough for now of just shooting Ammo blindly into the sky on this one, hoping for a very Robust discussion within this thread on this Major so we can cash as a group. Thats always a lot of fun.

Greenbacks2?

Where are you?

We must strive to re-create that ZJ British Open Cha-Ching sound :toast:

Course should favor bombers. I, too, think Jason Day gets it done. Bubba should have a great shot but he's such a prick that I can't back him. Might take a little Schwartzel at 120-1 and Paul Casey at 90-1 also.

Form JDay is in its very very hard to imagine him not being there at Hole 64 and onwards. Bubba Form encouraging as well but as discussed in the prior Golf Threads we look to Fade Bubba in the right spots and this feels very much like one of those spots to me. I'd be very interested in other's thoughts on Bubba here as Matchups comprise the Lion's Share of my success with Golf...I don't cash Winner too much.

Linesmakers are often Razor Sharp on Bubba Matchups though so I need to be real confident fading him but if he survives the cut, Links Course or even "kinda Links-like" I feel Bubba is a reliable 3rd & 4th Round fade.

Last 2 weeks I've encountered hard & unprecedented challenge locating coverage (via Streams) early. To the degree that I've been shocked and really pissed. Its not uncommon for me to have a matchup that tees of very early. This is a Major, last minute we will locate streams & hopefully they'll be posted here in this thread but if people know of where early viewing can be accomplished please post so we have options and hopefully don't have to scramble.

Here are the rest of my Plays

Jason Day over DJ -110 2* - I don't care if I am behind after 54 DJ is plus money to finish in the TOP and JD is -143 - I like this bet the most

Top 5

Jday +287 .5*
Bubba +347 .5* - We all know Bubba can bomb it he starting to play well & Tied for 2nd in 2010.

Top 20

Jday -143 1*
Bubba -119 1*
Kaymer +209 .5* - Past success at Whistling Straights and Played well in the British
Brendan Grace +258 .5* - Remember the big Aussie at the US open & the British? He can bomb it - I am hoping he is sniffing around SUNDAY.

You may read a lot about this tourney being won by first timers or dark horses - But the young guns are so hot this year I just don't see a dark horse winning a 1st time Major winner yes but no Dark Horse....

Rory - Speith - Day - Fowler - Et al are gong to be fun to watch for years to come.

Gl Guys enjoy the input - keep the chatter up

At better than 13 1/2 to One JDay seems like a great play here.

DSI has him at +1213, 5D worse at 1195.

DSI always has some very nice future prices.

How can one do anything other than agree with that?

DJ absolutely imploded late recently, has shown us NO thing that IMO should lead us to believe he's able to get past that Epic Open Collapse and close out with a supremely confident Final Round.

Fantastic Play at -110 IMO. Cash or don't here thats VALUE, crazy Value IMO at just -110. I had to grab it at -115 (5Dimes), DSI was already at -120, no way I see that being available at anything better than -115 over here.

As always, W or L all we can do is locate value where we see it to be, I was ruminating upon this one...DJs extreme length off the tee had me hesitating but you verbalized what was making me so tempted by it so fuggit....debate within my mind on this one has blissfully been brought to a close. If DJ can rise above...so be it.

Shrewd, very shrewd IMO the other JDay plays as well.

You may read a lot about this tourney being won by first timers or dark horses - But the young guns are so hot this year I just don't see a dark horse winning a 1st time Major winner yes but no Dark Horse....

Look at how they did at St. Andrews after John Deere. That was so unprecedented that a viable betting strategy was to not back or even FADE guys traveling after playing the tourney directly before The British Open and especially those who'd done well....I believe? I ignored it all...that chatter about historically guys don't do well at The British off playing the tourney just prior cuz I "know" who these guys are.

I know cuz sharp Golf Announcers told me to expect them. Back when Tiger was dominating a couple sharp Golf Analysts said:

"Watch Out. This level of dominance from one player could easily lead to an entire stable of guys bringing there game up and we could see an entire flock of amazing golfers emerge."
